Pattern Manufacturer --- OTHER ---
Pattern Name/NumberPattern Description Mock-wrap tunic, long sleeves
Which view and size did you make? size 36
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
If not, why? -
Were the instructions easy to follow? No
If not, why? I have to say that I pretty much ignored the instructions. The magazine is in four languages at once and the translation is usable but not great. I read through the instructions, but basically followed simplified/alternative instructions I found online here. Kudos to the magazine for linking to reviews on their website, which made this easier method easy to find!
These were my steps:
1. Narrow hem back neckline, front neckline on both front pieces, bottom edge of front over-layer.
2. Sew dart in front under-layer.
3. Gather front over-layer to match notches in front under-layer.
4. Baste front pieces together, treating them as one from here on.**
5. Sew shoulder seams (I used interfacing to stabilize here).
6. Sew sleeves to body of dress.
7. Sew side seams and underarm seams in one step.
8. Hem sleeves, ** Hem skirt of dress - taking care to hem over/under/around the over-layer front piece as necessary What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Pretty easy to construct, simple (four pattern pieces), looks nice! I did not like the length so much in the end, but that's more my fault than the patterns!
Fabric used Synthetic/wool blend sweater knit
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made or would recommend Increased length at waist by 3cm, length at hem by 4cm. Still not long enough for my taste (I would have liked a dress rather than a tunic length), but I didn't have any more fabric!
Would you sew this pattern again? Yes
Would you recommend this pattern to others? Yes
Any additional comments See above for instructions much simpler than in the magazine!
