Make Your Own Hook and Loop Circles from Tape (Tut
Not long ago I needed a velcro dot for a project but didn't have one so I decided to make one out of velcro tape. Great idea! Terrible results!
I later decided to figure out how to do it right. Here's a tutorial from my blog: http://www.keeping-home.com/blog/?p=530

Don’t have any Velcro dots but need some now? If you have hook and loop closure tape you can make your own circles!
Step 1
The tools you will need:
A pencil
A drawing compass OR a small round object such as a penny.
A surface that is hard and not smooth. You need the tape to stick to the surface so that it won’t slide around while you are drawing the circles. You can use a piece of fabric, such as fleece, provided it won’t slide around on the hard surface that you place it over.
Step 2
Cut tape into shorter lengths, if desired, to make it easier to handle.
Step 3-A
If using the compass, adjust to desired size (for example, adjust compass to 1/4 inch for a 1/2 inch circle). Place the point in the center of the strip, near one end. If you are making a very small circle, be sure it is not too small to hold onto as you cut it.
Swing the compass around to make sure the pencil doesn’t go over the edge of the tape. If it does, push the pencil in until it is on the tape all the way around (you may want to take note of the new measurement so that if you accidently readjust the compass before you are finished making all of your circles you can get it back where it needs to be to make the circles the same size).
Step 4-A
Now, pressing the point of the compass firmly into the tape, draw a circle with the pencil.
Step 3-B
If you are using a coin, place the coin on the tape and hold it down firmly.
Step 4-B
Draw around the edge of the coin.
Step 5
When your circle is finished, cut it out with sharp scissors.
Turn the circle constantly as you cut. When you stop turning to get a different grip on the circle, stop cutting. This will help your circle be truly round and not multi-sided!
Now make the rest of your emergency dots!
