Re: Design 11 harem pants
Harem Pants very closely resemble the "MC Hammer" pants of the 80's. The very long rise, short legs and long cuffs make for a "balloony" looking pant but are absolutely adorable.
I did DD's with an encased elastic waist, instead of shiring. I also lengthened the legs about 2 inches, but I didn't shorten the cuff at all.
I would recommend however, with just cotton knits (as opposed to blends) to slightly taper the cuffs, so they stay on as opposed to sliding down onto their feet. I did add elastic to the cuffs of one pair, because they were falling down constantly.
I've made 2 pairs and have more cut out. DD loves the comfort of them and the freedom to move as she wishes! I love the simplicity of making them. The pants are done in one piece and then the cuffs- very simple, very quick and very cute.
