Hooded Beach Towel for Toddler/Small Child DL

This is my first tutorial so be gentle on me...
Hooded Beach Towel~ for a toddler or a smaller child

    Materials:
One regular size bath towel- I used a 30”x54” towel
16”x24” main print terry cloth for hood (I am using polka dot print)
16”x24” coordinating print terry cloth for hood liner (white minky dot print)
    Prewash your terrycloth and towel.
For this tutorial I am using white Minky for the liner because I was out of the coordinating terry cloth stripe.. it actually worked out well...

Step 1: Cut a 16”x24” rectangle of your main print (this part will show when your hood is up)

Step 2: Cut a 16”x24” rectangle of your coordinating print (liner of hood)
    [/IMG]

Step 3: Fold the main print in half right sides together and pin along the top edge.

Sep 4: Fold the coordinating liner print together and pin along the edge
    [IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Step 5: Sew the top edge of main print
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 6: Sew the top edge of coordinating liner print
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 6a: The sewn pieces of the hood should look like this..
    [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

You now have the hood and the liner of the hood almost completed. See not so hard!

Step 7: Insert the liner hood into the exterior hood right sides together. Line up the interior top seam. . Pin the side edges all the way around. Sew all the around the side edges.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 8: (optional) Turn the hood right side out and check to make sure your top seam of your liner and hood match. Turn the hood inside out again with right sides together.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 9: Sew the bottom edge leaving a small 2 inch hole to turn it right side out again. It should look like this when you turn it right side out.. see the hole on the bottom about a third of the way from the left edge?
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 10: Turn the hood right side out and topstitch all around the side edges the hood. Set aside.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 11: Open towel and lay flat.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 12: Fold towel in half and mark middle point with a pin or marking pen.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 13: Line up the MIDDLE of the bottom edge of the RIGHT side of the main hood with the MIDDLE mark on the right side of the towel. Pin the bottom of the hood all the way across the top edge of the towel.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Step 14: Stitch the hood to the towel. Make sure you tuck in the edges of the hole and sew it closed as you go...I like to go back and stitch it again to reinforce the whole thing one more time.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Optional: Hang tag to hang towel on hook ...

Step 15: Cut a 3 inch piece of grosgrain ribbon in a coordinating color. Center ribbon and pin it down. Turn edges under. Stitch both ends of ribbon securely.
    [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

You finished the hooded towel~ pack a picnic and head to the pool!

I will post a final product pic as soon as I can get a decent shot if my son will model it. Here is a sns I did of another one...

Ooh, I was hoping you'd make a tute for this! My mom was thinking a hooded towel would be a good b-day gift for my nephew.
