I made this hat for my son, and, like most Ottobre patterns, it sewed up very easily. All the pieces fit together perfectly. I didn't fray the edges like the pattern. Instead I made the outer hat with all the topstitching then I made the lining with a hole in the top to pull it through when I was done. Then I stitched the outer hat to the lining along the outer brim edges, and pulled it though the hole in the lining. I then did several rows of topstitching along the brim. By not leaving the edges raw it made the brim a bit narrower, so if you want a wider brim add to the outer brim before cutting.
