I've used these snowpants for the past two years. Mine have been made from an outer layer of goretex and inner layer of fleece.

Changes: I don't connect the two layers at the bottom. I hem the outer layer and put an elastic cuff on the fleece layer. I also ommitted the cross stitching on the knees as we tend to have wet winters and I didn't want moisture wicking through. I kept the double knee patches though and think they're awesome! Don't skimp on the pocket stitching it makes the pants

The fit is generous enough to layer easily over other clothes. Fit is dead on for my son but I had to take the waist in by a good inch from the hand me down pair to fit my skinny daughter.
