I never use the "dickie" piece and I make the back without the scoop/tie.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

Love that it comes in all sizes. I've made this for myself as well as for my 11yo. My 8yo wants some too! It fits well, although I always go down a size from Jalies recommendations.

I always use a full back for this, never the scooped back/tie combo they do.
