I couldn't figure out how they were attaching the side binding on the front outside edge, so what I did was put all the binding on first (on front and back), then topstitched on top with both pieces right side up, like a flatlocked seam or lapped seam or whatever it's supposed to be called.
I sized the pattern up to a 98.
These are really quick to make, and the fit seems really good. I also wasn't sure how they wanted me to do the binding, so I did them how the pp said.

Close up of "Donkey" Shorts by beach_mom, on Flickr
Size 92 with no changes and they fit my 7 year old who usually wears a 104/110
Fun pair of shorts to make and wear! I used stretch terry/toweling for the main fabric and cotton interlock for the binding.
And I joined the sides just as caseyj (the first poster in this thread) said.

Size 92/98, I used size 92 but used a bigger seam allowance. Grey pair is velour, the rest are ribknit and or interlock. These were quick to sew, easy to do in bulk. I think the pockets seem real small though. My ds likes them, these are for gymnastics. I wish they came in bigger sizes!!
