| A manufactured fiber composed of regenerated cellulose, derived from wood pulp, cotton linters, or other vegetable matter. Today, various names for rayon fibers are taken from different manufacturing processes. The two most commonly used production methods for rayon are the cuprammonium process and the viscose process. | |

| rib knit | |
| Very elastic reversible fabric with alternating verticle rows of ribs and wales. Rib knits have a very high degree of elasticity in the crosswise direction. Commonly used for complete garments and for sleeve bands, neck bands, sweater waistbands, and special types of trims. Use with other knit or woven fabrics. A soft, plain-knitted fabric. Rib knitw with a small amount of lycra tend to have the best recovery. |

| Rip Stop | |
| A woven fabric with small squares. This fabric is very durable, because the squares confine any rips. A lightweight, wind resistant, and water resistant plain weave fabric. Large rib yarns stop tears without adding excess weight to active sportswear apparel and outdoor equipment such as sleeping bags and tents. |

| Rolled Hem | |
| Fold the edge under ~1/8" and then again and topstitch to hold hem. Sergers often have a stitch that rolls the fabric and encases it with thread. |
