IF money were no object and you could upgrade your embroidery machine, what would you get?!?! (This has probably been asked before...sorry).
I'm *thinking* about ugrading my machine (white 3300), I'm very happy with it overall. There are things that *I* would like though...bigger field and to get rid of the ultimate box...I'd like something which is already *built* into the machine.
It took me THREE Hours to figure out HOW to download the designs onto my card, That's because ds usually does if for me and says see...you do this this this and then this :chinscratch :doh
Sooooooo.........jus t thinking what my next option *might* be :allisonundies

I haven't even used my embroidery machine yet. I just got it back from being tuned up, bought it used.... Hmmm... maybe I should go try it. I got a Brother PC8500.

I promise it gets easier to use the ultimate box!!
Really the options for use without the box are very limited, and tres expensive. I think some of the cheaper ones are singer futuras, but they have to be hooked directly to your computer and if I have read reviews correctly, when a design is embroidering, you can't use the computer for anything else.
Another option is top of the line babylock/brother- they have a HUGE hoop size0 11x17 or somewhere around there. But, you can buy a used car for less, lol. I think they will set you back around $5-6000 depending on where you buy.
As far as bigger, but not used car category, I had an Ellure(babylock), cost $1000, had a 5x7 hoop, lots of decorative stitches, very easy to use. I know they just did a redesign on this machine, so you might be able to get an even better deal on the 'old' design. Not sure what the pricing is on the redesign.
I upgraded to the Brother 8500, and love it. It really isn't that much different than the Ellure, but there are some features that really make it more user friendly. It also has a 5x7 hoop, but also comes with extra hoops, which makes use of backing more economical.
I upgraded to the Brother

I really like my Janome embroidery only machine. If I were to upgrade, it'd think about getting a Pfaff, but only because their software works on a Mac.

I love my machine too and it's the same as Barbs. :)

Having just spent my last Saturday at a design expo hosting by Viking, lol my new fav embroidery machine is the Husqvarna-Viking Sewing-Embroidery Machine Designer SE ($7,500). That is one heck of a machine, of course since my husband is a Marine, MONEY IS AN OBJECT and I have had no problems with my Quantum Futura Singer embroidery combo, other than user error stuff....

Yeah...the SE is my dream machine....but it's not going to happen! I checked prices today on a few machines....Pfaff, Brother 8500 and the BL ellure (new style and old style). I honestly don't know what a *good* price is on any of the machines I'm researching... the BL...he quoted 950 for the old version, 1150.00 for the new :chinscratch
The PFaff 2170 was definitely the most expensive of what I was looking at...4000 :/ :doh
The Brother 8500 is 1500.00
Thinking and pondering :drool
