Afraid I'm not aware of any except for the one that integrates into phpbb...

I have "Kalender" that is almost all set up, but I can't figure out how to make it talk to the database.
I the one you linked better in some way?

Don't know -- I'm not familure with Kalendar. The one I linked to adds a couple new fields while posting that lets you put in date ranges. Then you put the "event" in the post body. So it is simple to add/edit/delete events as all you are doing is making a new post...
I can help you get either of them setup, just pick one. :)

If we migrate over to vBulliten or invision, the calendar mods are included. I'd rather wait before learning something new and freaking out my already tenuous hold on my understanding of PHP LMAO :doh
