I was trying to link to an ebay page, and kept getting this error when hitting submit:

Forbidden

There is something in that ebay link that is named the same as a database in our site. I found this out when I was fixing something and I could not name the database directly in my post. Its to prevent others from trying to run scripts in the messageboards and gain access to the administrative portion of the site. The easiest way around this one is to use a "tiny url" service.

Kori, the php code is set to ignore certain things. I bet that the issue you have with that splat. Php strips certain things out of links that could be used as a java script or html coded attack on the site.

Hey Kori,

DH had a solution for you. Replace the "*" with "%2A" and it works just fine. The "%2A" is the hexidecimal ascii code for the "*".

I don't have any rules on * -- and if I did %2A wouldn't work. ;)

The %2a does work, I tested it. There is code in the php stuff that strips out certain signs. I know that I had to add some stuff when we upgraded so that certain things would show up.

Can you email me the URL -- I would like to see what filter I have in place that mght be restricting it and fix it so it isn't effecting people posting ebay links. I can't think of any of the filters that might be doing it.

It appears I typo'd, and missed a "g" in my email address above:

Correct email address is nathan@master-technoloGy.com -- Can you resend it.

Ok, ebay urls should be allowed now. :)

Let me know if you find something else that isn't working; and I'll make sure to make an exception. The ebay url had two keywords in it that triggured the lock on it...

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISA PICommand=ViewListed Items&since=30&useri d=kori*s-stash&include=0&rows =50&sort=3&completed =1

so you had to post part of it as a link, and then part as text?

No, that was the board that did that. It saw the * and thought the url ended. I'm still playin with the filter to see what I can do to make is a tad more specific but not cancel the transaction on the ebay url's.
