Pattern from Burda magazine to sew a simple pair of shorts for a little girl (could be for a boy, too, I suppose!) with in-seam pockets and an elastic waistband. Link here. (http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/girls-shorts-052012)

This pattern comes in Euro sizes 98-122. I sewed 98 for my 105cm kid, based on her waist measurement and am pleased with the fit. It's easy to adjust the length based on your hem allowance.

This is a simple pattern to produce a simple, classic garment.

However, the instructions have you sewing the side seams, leaving the pocket openings open, then sewing the front and back pocket pieces to the front and back seam allowances where you have left the openings for the pockets. Bah. I followed the directions my DK Complete Book of Sewing, reinforced the front pocket opening, sewed each of the front and back pocket pieces to the front and back of the garment, then sewed the side seams and pocket pieces all at once. IMO, much easier.

Completely happy with the results. Will sew more.
