Hi nathan! I have e-mailed you twice about this, but haven't heard back. I just wanted to make sure you're getting them.

I keep getting a "Page not found" message when posting. I'd say once every day or so. I thought it might just be me, but after attending expo, I discovered that a lot of mamas have that trouble. I also had the trouble at Sarah's.

We need a breakdown of what we've paid, and what it includes. You can post it here, we are trying to keep everything open to our members.

I looked at the Master Technology site, but I'm not sure what exactly we're getting. I want to make sure when I ask for help it's covered or I can figure out what/when we need to pay extra for help.

Thanks!

Megan

You emailed me on 3/1 and I responded on 3/2. ;-)

Here is my response:

----------------------

>>
Can you please let me know what we have paid for? I never got the information from Allison, and since my leg surgeries I'm trying to get back on track.
>>What does our payment cover, what do we get with it? I just hate to ask if it's included, or not included. I've gone to the Master Technology site but it looks like we don't have one of those packages.

Sorry, I'm not following the question? Are you asking like how long you have left (I think until Oct) Or are you asking how much disk space?

Disk Space, actually I don't "ding" you for disk space usage. Technically it is pretty much unlimited. ;-) It just when I installed you I forgot to reset your disk space and it was only set to have a quota of 1GB of disk space. You are using a little under 800megs. I have reset your quota to 4GB of disk space. If you manage to use that -- I will again re-up it at no charge. :-D But having quotas allows me to gauge when I need to upgrade drive space and/or machines... :)

>>If you'll let me know what our payments cover, I'd appreciate it and
>>bother you less.<<

Does that answer your question?

As for this question -- are you getting error 403? or 404? Is their a specific time this happens most commonly?

Nathan.

That's weird, no -- I haven't gotten anything back.

The error is an equal opportunity error. Time does not seem to matter.

I'm asking what did we pay for, (web space, server, e-mails, support, chat, forums, etc). I never knew what exactly we paid and what service we paid for.

Thanks so much!

Meg

Next time the error occurs can you tell me if it is a 404 or a 403 error code? This will help me know what occured. (Also at what time you did it... ;-)

>>I'm asking what did we pay for, (web space, server, e-mails, support, chat, forums, etc). I never knew what exactly we paid and what service we paid for. <<

You are basically paying for hosting. ;-)
1. Web Space, as I said above I have the quota set to 4 Gigs of drive space right now (you are using less than 1 gig) and the quota will be adjusted up IF you manage to use it. I'm not stingy with drive space, I just need to keep track what is being used for backup and machine allocation. ;-)
2. Server you are on is currently on is a 2.4 ghz machine -- All Files and Data is backed up nightly to a remote machine.
3. You have unlimited emails (& email names) @sewingmamas.com
4. Support is me. ;-) For instance three times now this old version of phpnuke caused your servers account to be compromised; which caused a spam type program to be installed and run (which slowed the entire machine way, way, way down). I have installed the needed security fixes to eliminate the problem. Typical hosts would have just disabled your account until you upgraded and/or fixed the problem. (which reminds me; have you decided if you are going to stay with phpNuke, or are you wanting to go with just the forums, or what?)
5. Installing any software is your responsibility; I will make sure you have the access and user/passwords to get things running -- and might even help when I have free time and I might even be begged into doing some integration; but installation is your responsibility. (The only exception to this is CongoCart as that is my own product; and is maintained by me)

Thanks so much!

Your welcome -- please feel free to ask any other questions you might have. ;-) And if you need more elaboration on something, don't feel shy. ;-) The only stupid question is the un-asked ones...

Nathan.

There wasn't any number on any of the page not found error pages. I got about five of them today.

We are also paying for the congo cart and store? I didn't see that in your breakdown.

I need to know the amount we paid for the hosting etc. and for the store, and when it's time to renew.

Thanks Nathan!!!

The errors that I keep getting are a server not responding error, no number associated with it. I get "cannot find server" "dns error" multiple times per day, usually around 15 or more. I never get this from any other site and I still have full internet connectability when this does happen (ie, I can ping everything in the house and get to msnbc.com and my other favorite sites without an issue). After about 3 minutes, I can usually get back to sewingmamas.

It is in the financial statement I posted last month in the board room. We paid $600 for a years hosting in November. That is for the site hosting. The store and congo are the same thing, not two seperate. We haven't paid anything for those because I haven't been billed. Because it is on a percentage of what is sold, I have to be billed for it. Camie said Nathan would get to it.

Okay, thanks Allison! I guess I should read those financial statements LOL. I'm just trying to figure out how much I'm responsible for and how much I can 'use' Nathan LOL. :D

Weird,

Server not responding is typically a internet linkage issue -- I wonder if the facility I'm using is having issues; I get notified of any "server" outages.

Next time you get that error would you mind trying to go to a dos (or command) prompt and typing "ping 67.18.79.106" and if it fails; can you try "tracert 67.18.79.106"

Sewingmamas, your are paying until I believe Nov at $50 a month.

CongoCart is handled totally separately on a % of order with a fixed cap...

Nathan will get to it -- Its on my todo list; I don't have any code written to calculate the number yet since your CongoCart is a special case billing. And my priority has been to get everyone on v2.0 (supports auctions, and direct payments to the sellers).

I'll see if I can work up the number tonight what you owe me for it. ;-)

-----------------

Ok, I worked it up. ;-)

-----------------
Total is: 36.86

Breakdown is:
Oct - $1.50
Nov - $19.23 (Several people capped this month -- nice sales)
Dec - $7.15
Jan - $8.25
Feb - $0.73

Home page is probably cached. Server is responding to pings meaning the network path is correct. Hmm, that only leaves one of a couple possibilites.

1. ping sewingmamas.com -- do you get a response?
2. Can someone see how many users are online once it clears up (this is on the main forum page)?

Yes, I know sewingmamas.com resolves to the same address. ;-) I'm trying to find out if it is a DNS issue or a Traffic issue. If the next time you have issues you do a ping to both the ip and the name and it works it means it is a traffic issue. If it fails on the ping to sewingmamas then it is a dns issue that I can fix by changing dns hosts.

Isabelle was running a fever again last night. Everytime she gets even the slightiest cold she runs about a 101 degree fever. But she is never sick long, so I just let her fever run the course, but I do check on her to make sure she is comfortable. After she went to bed, I was up tinkering with an embroidery design, then I went to bed. I was checking the board again this morning as the coffee machine was heating up. John says its necessary to point out that 7:49 is actually closer to 8am. ;)

We are night owls. We usually go to bed at midnight or so and get up at 7ish.

You know, when I log into the fourum admin screen, it says we don't have the most up to date forum software. Can you upgrade us easily? I have no idea if it works with Nuke though. Or maybe can we integrate a different bbs into our php nuke site? One with better search functions?

I was using DiaperSwappers.com and PatternReview.com, and some others -- they have much larger sites and better search engines -- or at least I get appropriate hits when I search.

I'm sure we could pay for another bbs if we needed to, and if we could move everyone and everything over with us. It's just one module of PHP nuke.

Just brainstorming after too much caffine this morning

Page errors -- I have figured out the primary issue and it is outside my control. I have reported it to the hosting facility with the relevant logs so that they can fix it. It effects a whole slew of servers in a specific range of ip address... Please have some patience while they can get it fixed...
