Does it just not work at all?

I've tried entering a single word, and all forums, and I come up with no results. I've tried searching for a phrase in one specific forum, and I get a error.

Is there a way to get the search function to work? Maybe it's just me, but I think it's pretty important.

What did you attempt to search for? The search system eliminates words that have too high of a frequency to be useful. For instance; the word "sew" has probably been eliminated by now since a good chunk of messages have that word it in to make it useful to search on.

It doesn't seem to work very often for me, either.

I just tried to search for "bizz" in all forums/etc (there is a current thread that contains this word), and got no hits.

There was a thread a while back about how long to wait for seamstress boutique transactions. I tried to search "wait transaction" and got the error when I limited it to the Material Girls board. When I used the same phrase and searched all boards, I got a bunch of results from the feedback board which is not where the original thread was posted. I did finally find the post I was looking for on the 3rd page of results.

Bizz is probably removed because it is only 4 characters long... Smaller words are removed automatically just because of the size of the messages.

I wonder if this is why it doesn't work when I search for patten numbers, then?
I tried searching on a 4 digit number a few times and was puzzled when nothing came up, because I knew that specific pattern number had been discussed.

If they are 4 digits it is probably automatically excluded for size reasons.

Is that ann automatic function of the software, or can admin can set it differently? Just curious - sometimes it would be nice to be able to search on 4 letter things!

If I recall corrently it is programmed that way... 4 letters unfortunately would cause the word list to grow astronomical causing searches to be extreamly slow. For instance in this post group alone we have over 50--four letter words (not including quotes). Every one of them would cause an additional word to be added to the word database... Think how quickly that grows -- and once the Word DB gets to a certain size; the searching is worthless...

Is there a solution for this? We need this to work better. I had a google search in a block, I guess I could do that again.

We need to be able to search for pattern numbers which are often 4 numbers.

Now "t-shirt" works for me today. As do 4 letter terms. Maybe it depends on some sort of alignment of the planets.

I can't get numbers to come up though. I was searching otto issues - like 2/05, etc.

Hmm, I could be wrong but I thought the default search disabled 4 letter words... I didn't actually look at the code...

Now if you NEED number; I can add code to support 4 number sequences.

Yes, please add numbers.

I just tried to look for 'swap' in the Runway and got this message:

Fixed. If you see any more "errors" like that let me know and I can get them fixed.

I looked at the code it does accept numbers already permitting they are 4 digits or more. ;-)

So 2011 will bring up one post and 2025 will bring up another...
