Olabelhe - Kirstin Skirt Pattern Description
Two layer skirt with large-bow sash Which view and size did you make?
Size 5 - it is a tutorial with formulas for size Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes If not, why?
- Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes If not, why?
Tutorial with step-by-step instructions and photo illustrations. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the femininity of the skirt and the ability to make any size. Fabric used
Cotton Wovens Pattern alterations or any design changes you made or would recommend
I would cut the waistbands and sashes with the grain rather than cross-grain to minimize stretch. I also would change the seam allowances to be at least 3/8" or 1/2" rather than 1/4". Also, altering the design for how the waistband attaches to the skirt can minimize bulk. My daughter doesn't seem to care or notice, however - it's the frills and girly-ness that she adores. Now I'm off to go make a top to match so she can wear it today! I'll post a SnS later. Would you sew this pattern again?
No Would you recommend this pattern to others?
Yes Any additional comments
Perfect for the novice who wants a super-girly skirt without using a traditional pattern. The basics of this tutorial are so simple - just lay out your fabric, fold it and cut according to the measurements plugged into a formula.
