I took pics while making felt food for the kids. Thought I would share. Sorry the pics are kind of fuzzy! My sewing area isn't lit very well!
materials:
brown felt-7" by 1 1/4" for each slice
pink felt- 5" by 1/2" for each slice
I use pink thread in the top and brown for the bobbin for all of this.
Step 1: Run one or two lines of basting stitches (longest stitch length) down the center of each brown piece. If you are careful, you just need one line of stitches.

Step 2: Gather to about 5 1/2"

Step 3: Sew pink strip close to the edge on top of the gathered, brown piece.

Cut strings, and you are finished!
